SUNDAY BREAKFAST
GROUP
A new group of spiritually minded film people meet Sunday mornings for breakfast
and a walk
to the beach, or other social activity. We are spiritual people who are
not necessarily
religious. Our first breakfast is Sunday, January 18th at 10:30 AM.
Organizer/key person wanted. We've had three
breakfast meetings so far, (As of February 1) and I now realize I am too busy to answer inquiries
etc regarding this. If you believe in this idea, and would like to help,
just let me know. It would involve having your phone number and email
address on this page to answer inquiries. Until such a person is found,
I will not make it a priority to be at these breakfasts, so if you go there you may or may not see me.
And it is hard to say who will show up, or if anyone will show up,
until an orgainzer volunteers. Could this be you?
You can change the focus of the group if you like, the time and location, and do whatever you want.
Want to help? Just let me know.

(This is not
a religious group.)
Why do this?
It is an opportunity for some casual networking, a place to share
ideas and to give and get support. A place to share news and opportunities
regarding film. A place to connect spiritually with others and with
nature.
A chance to develop new friendships. For myself, it will be an alternative
to church or organized religion. I see it as simply some spiritually
minded people
with an interest in film getting together to talk mostly about film. And
to
eat breakfast! If you are interested in being in such a group, you
can email me
or simply show up at the location below.
As this is a new group, any thoughts or ideas on this are welcome. I am
flexible and open
to any suggestions. It is my intent that there not be a leader, or
chairperson, and
that it not be structured in any way. As the group grows, we may want
volunteers
for certain jobs. Such jobs might be a person to email or phone everyone
if there is special news,
A person to find interesting after breakfast activities. A person
to give any current
film news. Or??
There is lots of interest! You can call or email me if you want to be included.
Thanks.
We
will be having our first breakfast this coming Sunday, January 18 at 10:30.
At The Vinyard restaurant, 4th and Vine.
This could be a temporary location,
as they can only seat 12 together. More than 12 and some have to sit
separately. We have a reservation.
I live near the restaurant mentioned. If there
is interest, anyone who wants to show a short film is welcome
to do so at my place after breakfast, or after a walk. (It could be an alternative
to walking if the weather is crummy)
I do not want this to be "my" group... I just want it to be a group
of nice friendly film people, without any real leader. If you are a
real organizer, and want to contribute, this can be talked about. If
there are any significant decisions to be made, I would like to see them being
made by "group conscience."
At first, it will be important that some of us make a commitment to show
up every week. After the group is established, this can change, so that
none of us feel that we have to go.
I spent a fair bit of time thinking about, and searching for a suitable
location. It is not as easy as it first seems. Some places are
very busy Sunday mornings and they could not guarantee fitting a fairly large
group together. If you have some ideas, and want to scout a bit, please
do. It is important to talk to them and get a feel about how accomodating
they will be. Also, I would like more than just a coffee and muffin
place, and it should be on a bus route, and there should be easy parking,
and hopefully a beach or park nearby.
What does spiritual or spirituality mean? There are many definitions
of course. Here are some of my thoughts: It means a belief in
God, The Great Spirit, Universal Mind, The Creator, A Higher Power,
or maybe just a fascination with how wonderful nature is. It means
a feeling that we are all connected, that things happen for a reason, that
we are here to learn and grow, and evolve as people. And that the universe
is abundant, and that if we do good, good will come back to us. I further
believe that it is OK to have fun, and that we don't have to work all the
time. I hope you identify with at least some of this.
